Eovolt are a relatively new French brand of electric folding bike based in the city of Bourges, in the Centre-Val De Loire region of France.
In recent years there has been a large influx of cheap OEM folding electric bikes which to the casual eye look very similar. This is where Eovolt set themselves apart from these cheap, often poor quality imitations.
Eovolt design and manufacture all of their electric folding bikes in-house partnering with high-end brands like Knog, Shimano, Selle Royal and Samsung. For example, Eovolt hand polish their welds, paint their own frames and build their own wheels from rims made in Europe. For 2023, they have also designed their own folding cockpit with no welds and a one-step locking mechanism.
This level of refinement and attention detail becomes obvious when you take a closer look at their bikes.
Their range is quite simple and breaks down into three models by wheel size, each available in different colours:
They all feature a powerful 36V 250W Brushless rear hub motor and a large capacity Samsung battery that doubles up as the seatpost.
The Eovolt Morning is a very lightweight, compact folding electric bike that is ideal for short commutes or bombing around town. It’s tiny footprint when folded means you can easily take it on trains and busses or store it away at home if you have little space. The 2023 model has a new, much more intuitive torque sensor which improves the ride feel in addition to a Knog bell, a premium Selle Royal saddle and the new, redesigned one-step folding cockpit. With a great choice of colours, super strong 16” wheels, a pannier rack as standard and an anti-theft seatpost clamp, the bike offers exceptional value for its price point.
If you want slightly bigger wheels and more gears, the Eovolt Afternoon is a true bigger brother of the Eovolt Morning offering the same features and benefits in a slightly bigger package. Boasting a whopping 2.1kg weight saving over its 2022 predecessor it gains a shorter battery, the new one-step folding cockpit and a premium Knog bell and Selle Royal saddle. The 20” wheels will be more comfortable to ride around town yet the bike will still be small enough to be folded and taken into your office.
The Eovolt Evening is a Dutch-style open step through electric bike that partly folds, making it quite unique in its category. If you crave a full-size electric bike but don’t have the space then this bike is just the ticket. Although the frame doesn’t fold, the bars feature Eovolt's new one-step folding bar. Additionally, the 24” wheels reduce the length of the bike so the space-saving over a full size electric bike is big yet it rides like one. A very cool piece of kit that ticks a lot of boxes.
